Weather Service: Watch out for slippery spots

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Watch out for slippery spots on roads and sidewalks this morning, the National Weather Service advises.

"Last evening's light wintry mix with current temperatures in the 20s to the lower 30s may result in some icy spots this morning," the Weather Service says. "Motorists traveling this morning should be prepared for a few slippery spots...especially on secondary roads, bridges, and overpasses. Walkways and parking lots may also be slippery...so use extra caution when venturing out this morning."

The temperature was just below freezing, 31 degrees at 6:51 a.m., and should warm to 41 degrees today in Providence, the Weather Service says. The wind will blow from the northwest at 7 to 13 mph with gusts up to 29 mph.

The temperature will likely drop all the way to 17 degrees tonight in Providence.

Wednesday looks mostly sunny with a high near 35.

On Thursday, the temperature should reach 51 degrees.

Friday should hit 56 degrees but will also likely bring rain.
