Julies out to punish former club Sundowns

2018-01-09 10:21

Cape Town - New Ajax Cape Town signing Samuel Julies hopes to get on the score-sheet against his former club Mamelodi Sundowns.

Julies signed for the Urban Warriors on Monday, arriving from Chippa United as part of a swap deal which saw Bantu Mzwakali heading in the opposite direction.

And now he could potentially be in line to face up to another of his former teams, Mamelodi Sundowns, in Tuesday night's league match at the Cape Town Stadium.

"I was at Sundowns for close to 10 years, so yes, I am excited to play against them if the opportunity presents itself. Maybe I can score against them again. It is just a nice feeling being here [Ajax]," Julies told the Ajax website.

The Kimberley-born winger has spent a large portion of his career in the National First Division, where he had been loaned out to several clubs by Sundowns.

He's thrilled to have the chance to continue his resurgence in the PSL with Ajax after a very brief spell at Chippa.

"I am grateful to finally be an Ajax Cape Town player and I am grateful to the management for the way they handled the situation. It is a great club and I am looking forward to doing my best here," he said.

"Things happen so quickly so as a professional you have to be prepared at all times. I was always prepared for this, I am just hoping that everything will fall into place and that I can make my debut as soon as possible. I am just glad everything has worked out."

Kick off is at 19:30.
