Odisha hikes salaries of contractual medical teachers

The on Tuesday announced a hike in salaries of medical teachers appointed on contract basis in government-run medical colleges in the state with effect from January 1.

The Professors will now get Rs 1.25 lakh per month instead of Rs 90,000, Associate 1 lakh instead of Rs 75,000 and 75,000 instead of Rs 60,000, said.

The salaries will be increased by 3 per cent annually if their work is found satisfactory, he said.

The move is aimed at attracting and retaining faculty in newly opened medical colleges at Baripada and Koraput.

Three medical colleges are coming up at Balangir, Balasore and Puri.
