Ligue One side Bordeaux do have an interest in Newcastle United’s Aleksandar Mitrovic but may struggle to pay the asking price of around £15 million.

The club’s president Stephan Martin confirmed to French publication L’Equipe that his club were looking at the Serbian striker but any deal would not be ‘easy’ to complete.

Mitrovic is thought to have been offered to clubs around Europe including Bordeaux’s rivals Marseille but with the Magpies holding out for at least what they paid Anderlecht in the summer of 2015, a bid is yet to be made.

Anderlect have also been linked with taking Mitrovic back but at the moment only Bordeaux have confirmed any interest.

“These tracks are very real, but we are working on other players,” Martin told L’Equipe. “As for Mitrovic, the fact that he is playing in England doesn’t make things easy for us from the financial point of view.”

West Brom and Brighton have also been credited with an interest but Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez is reluctant to sell any of his players to direct relegation rivals.

If Jonjo Shelvey leaves Newcastle United who might replace him?

Mitrovic has not featured since the 3-2 defeat to Leicester City back on December 12 where he came off the bench for just two minutes. He’s only featured six times in the Premier League this season running up a total of just 151 minutes playing time.
