A minor girl was burnt alive by two people in a case of honour killing in the state capital.The incident took place on Sunday night. Later the 12-year-old died during treatment.
According to the information received from Nishatpura police, the victim was a resident of Nishatpura. Her elder brother Kallu lives in Hyderabad. Few days back Kallu came to Bhopal and eloped with a minor girl living in the neighbourhood. A case of abduction is registered against him.
The family of the girl who was abducted kept pressurizing Kallu’s family to reveal his whereabouts and assist in the recovery of the abducted girl. This led to dispute between the two families.
On Sunday night abducted girl’s father and his brother-in-law burnt kallu’s 12-year-old younger sister by pouring kerosene over her. The girl sustained 85 per cent burn injuries and was admitted at Hamidia Hospital where she died during treatment on Monday morning.
Initially police were told that the girl had set herself ablaze. But her dying declaration brought truth to the fore. Police have arrested both the accused.
