I know I had to do this post sooner, but with last minute travel plans, to Delhi then Miami and then Vegas, I was just too overwhelmed to function! Anyway, here’s pretty much a direct breakup (or an attempt) of what I eat in a day. But before I get to that, I must share that I grew up eating proper North Indian meals (add extra ghee, butter, milk being a Jaat haha), and I do have a good appetite. Growing up, mornings would be like having 2-3 paranthas at least (stuffed or not) and having 3-4 chapati in one meal with the veggies/ lentils/ gravy, whatever the dish would be! This is to just give you guys an idea the kind of food my metabolism has been used to all throughout. Further, I love my food way too much to give up on anything or follow any particular diet (like keto or gluten free and so on).
Coming to the topic, here’s a breakdown:
Soon as I get up, the first thing I do is gulp down 2 glasses of water. After that, around fifteen minutes later, I have a glass full of almond milk cold coffee. Post that I am usually making Shitiz his breakfast or packing his lunch and once he’s gone to work (which is almost an hour from that) I sit down with my huge bowl or platter of fruits. I try to have a good mix of fruits all throughout the week, so I pretty much get everything from the grocery store. I also try to have at least three different kinds of fruits in a day. You’ll always find some berries, bananas, melons (musk and water), apples, pears, papaya, and more in my refrigerator. So yes, I have a fruit/fruits followed by some dry fruits. That’s about morning!
Since I go to gym around 3-4pm, I prefer to get done with whatever I eat by 2-2.30 p.m. max. What I have is, a glass of juice, or sometimes green tea and a light snack. That could be an avocado toast, cereals, maybe a parantha, or quinoa, sauteed veggies or couscous, or poha, or upma, or lentils/chickpeas, or even another round of fruits, anything basically light yet enough to pump me up for a workout. Also, more nuts. I am not too big on eggs, but I don’t mind having some boiled eggs too at times.
This is basically once I am back from gym. I’ll have coconut water, or another juice with a banana. This pretty much sorts me for a while and I hit the shower and then prep for dinner.
Dinner is my big proper meal of the day. Now before anyone decides to jump on me and tell me how dinner should be lighter and lunch heavier, trust me, no matter what you read on the internet, do what works for you. And this works for me! Especially when dinner is the only meal of the day I can sit down and have with Shitiz. So it’s all cool! I have 4 chapatis (multigrain flour) with ‘sabzi’ and/or lentils/gravy dish. Curd/Raita happens on most days with the meal. I also have a decaf green tea right after dinner.
I like to snack on more fruits, raw veggies, nuts, chickpeas etc.
Weekends are more relaxed. We get up late, so we basically have 2 meals in the day and one meal I cook (usually something extravagant) and other we eat out with drinks.
That pretty much sums it all up!
(P.S. I was a vegetarian growing up so my meat intake is still not too much, not yet!)
Now, diet, works in a funny way. What you eat and how you digest or metabolize it, works differently person to person. A lot of factors are involved so don’t be too harsh on yourself comparing diets. What you can however do, is make sure you’re:

Hope this helps, I’ll be back soon with another post!!
