David R. Haynes, son of Mr. and Mrs. Russell B. Haynes, was awarded the Eagle Scout Award. He is a member of Boy Scout Troop 575.

JAN. 9, 1978

Commissioner John P. Taylor was elected chairman of the Guernsey County Commissioners. Commissioner Andy Kotoff was elected vice chairman.

JAN. 9, 1988

The Village of New Concord got a new mayor and a new council member during the reorganizational portion of the council meeting. Councilman Greg Adams was sworn in as the village's first new mayor in 22 years. He replaced longtime Mayor L.C. Knight.

Dr. David Ray has been notified that he passed the certifying examination that certifies him as a Diplomat in Internal Medicine. He was notified by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
