‘Pending GST issues should be resolved’

The 9th annual meet of the Jajpur Tax Bar Association with theme “Impact of Goods and Services Tax (GST) on Trade & Business” was organised at Jajpur Road on Monday.

The discussion stressed that introduction of the GST has eased the business in the country; and the business community should accept the GST system. The agriculture-sector is not included in the GST regime which is a good sign for economy.

The discussion also stressed on an easy procedural mechanism of GST, for which both the Union and State Governments should resolve the pending issues relating to the GST.

Justice DP Choudhury of the Orissa High Court inaugurated the meeting in the presence of former Finance Minister Prafulla Chandra Ghadai, Advocate General Surya Prasad Mishra, senior Chartered Accountant AK Sabat and the Jajpur Tax Bar Association president.

Justice Choudhury said, “Tax collection ensures better management of the nation. Introduction of the GST has systemised the taxation system. The business community should welcome the GST.”

Ghadai said, “The introduction of the GST is the biggest financial reform in the country since Independence. It has a very positive impact on business and trade; and all business community should accept the GST regime.”

Lawyers from different parts of the State participated in the meeting. Tax professionals discussed various aspects of the GST and its implementation.
