AT&T has abandoned plans to start selling smartphones from Huawei, people familiar with the matter told the Wall Street Journal. Huawei had been expected to announce at CES that it had struck an agreement with AT&T, marking its first partnership with a major US mobile carrier.

It was not known the reason for AT&T's withdrawal. Both companies declined to comment.
