‘Padmavat’ will not be released in Rajasthan, say CM Vasundhara Raje

Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje on Tuesday declared that Deepika Padukone starrer film ‘Padmavati’ will not hit the theatres in Rajasthan on January 25.

After the declaration, state Home Minister Gulab Chand Kataria, various Rajput organisations talked against the film.

“The give up of Rani Padmini is a subject of pride for Rajasthan and she is not just a episode of history for us,” Vasundhara Raje stated.

Since its inception, the movie entered into controversy as Karni Sena believed that the film story has broken the sentiments of people. Later, the movie makers took decision to modify the title of film after CBFC verdict.

Earlier, the sources revealed that the movie will hit the theatres on January 25 but now CM Vasundhara Raje took decision that it won’t be releasing.

‘Padmavat’ film stars Shahid Kapoor, Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone in prominent roles. Prior, the film was slated to hit the theatres on December 1.

“Rani Padmini is our self-respect and we will not let it hurt in any case. Directions in this regard have been given to Rajasthan Home minister,” Vasundhara Raje stated.

As per BJP state president Ashok Parnami, “If the movie has some contentious sight, then it will not be abided and strikes will persist.”

Attires portraying the Rajput community carried out a conference at the Rajput Sabha Bhawan recently.

The CBFC had made a panel to analyze the movie as several Rajput firms were up in protests against the depiction of queen Padmini in the film.

As per Shree Rajput Karni Sena Mahipal chief Singh Makrana, strikes have been done considering law and order in mind.
