Floods hit Raub

KUANTAN: Floods hit Raub district necessitating nine residents to take shelter at the evacuation centre at Dewan Semai Bakti Felda Tersang 2.

Pahang Malaysian Civil Defence Force director Zainal Yusof said the number of flood victims rose to 379, from 370 last night, who were being sheltered at eight centres.

"In Pekan, 281 people are staying at five centres at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Temai (122), Pusat Pemindahan Banjir Kampung Pulau Manis (75), Balai Raya Kampung Tanjung Pulai (39), SK Acheh (34) and Balai Raya Kampung Tebat (11)," he said when contacted.

In Maran, 38 people are staying at Balai Raya Kampung Baru Pertanian while 51 others, at SK Chegar Perah in Lipis District.

Meanwhile, six schools in Pekan and one in Maran remained closed today, affecting 1,538 students and teachers.

The schools in Pekan are SK Kampung Acheh, Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Paloh Hinai, SK Mambang, SK Temai, SK Pelak and SK Pulau Manis, and in Maran, SK Kertau. — Bernama
