Police arrested a youth in Madinabagh area of Rupganj upazila in Narayanganj yesterday two days after he and his accomplices had allegedly gang raped a schoolgirl.
The arrestee -- Maruf Hossain Munna, 20, son of late Jahangir Hossain -- is from Rupganj.
The 15-year-old girl filed a case with Rupganj Police Station accusing five people.
Citing the statement of the case, Officer-in-Charge Ismail Hossain said the girl had a romantic relationship with a youth named Shahidul Islam.
On Saturday, Shahidul asked her to meet him at Tetlabo Bazar, said Ismail.
When the girl went there, Shahidul and several of his accomplices took her to Maruf's residence in Kandapara area by a battery-run auto-rickshaw, said the OC. Later, they gang raped her there, he added.
