GALVA — Doris E. “Nanny” Johnson, 95, of Galva, passed away at 9:57 p.m., Friday, January 5, 2018 at Seminary Manor in Galesburg.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, January 11 at Rux Funeral Home in Galva. Her Grandson, Rev. Dr. Jaye Johnson will officiate. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 10 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Galva Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Grace United Methodist Church in Galva.
She was born April 23, 1922 in Kewanee, the daughter of George and Emma (Hepner) Wilsey. She married James J. Johnson on April 14, 1945 in Galveston, TX and he preceded her in death on October 5, 1987. Survivors include her son, Larry Johnson of Galva, her daughter, Sherry (Harold) Kohl of Peotone, IL, daughter-in-law, Brenda Alexander of White Bear Lake, MN, nine grandchildren, Larry (Debra) Johnson, Joannie King, Angela (Willie) Burford, Tom (Sarah) Kohl, Melissa (Brad) Fox, Jaye (Amy) Johnson, Mike (Maggie) Kohl, Jared Johnson and Jennie (Chris) Bordonaro, twenty great grandchildren, Stephanie (Jared) Wexell, Samantha (Zak) Swanson, Tyler Johnson, Bridget (Drayson) Owens, Cameron Wirth, Maddie, Makenna and Braley Burford, Brian, Laura, Nathan and Megan Kohl, Alee and Andrew Johnson, Charlotte, Barrett and Louis Kohl, Seano and Keyan Johnson and Liana Bordonaro, five great-great grandchildren with one on the way, Jayden, Peyton and Grayson Wexell and Parker and Zane Swanson and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Art and Lyle Wilsey, sister, Florence Kidd and her son, Rev. Daniel Johnson.
Doris attended Wethersfield schools. She was a homemaker and had been a member of Grace United Methodist Church since 1976. She enjoyed her church friends and neighbors, having coffee with her friends, having company over to her house and most of all she cherished spending time with her beloved family.
