The Department of Environment (DoE) Chittagong zone seized 600kg of banned polythene bags in a store at Riyajddin Bazar in the city yesterday morning.
Md Russell, owner of the shop of plastic goods, was summoned to appear at the department's office today, said Sangjucta Dsgupta, assistant director of the department.
The thickness of the seized polythene bags was under 55 micron which was declared banned by the government, she concluded.
