BJP criticizes Akhilesh Yadav

| | Lucknow | in Lucknow

Hitting out at former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, the BJP said that a party which believed in superstition had no role in Indian politics because people’s welfare was not driven by superstition but by political commitment to serve them.

“How can a leader of a party talk about superstition about Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s visit to Noida.  This shows that this leader has no vision. The CM and the PM will visit Noida time and again as leaders of BJP do not believe in superstition,” Deputy Chief Minister Dr Dinesh Sharma told reporters in Lucknow on Monday.

Sharma was reacting to the statement of Akhilesh Yadav where he had said that Noida was a jinxed place and as the PM and the CM had visited Noida recently, they would not return to power.

“You cannot expect much from such leaders who, in this scientific age, talk about superstition. Therefore, they blame EVMs for their defeat rather than accepting the fact that they have not done enough when they were in power. People elected these leaders to start welfare projects but they focussed on their own welfare. They reserved power for their native districts and allowed people of their caste to mint money,” he said.

Dr Sharma said that the BJP has initiated welfare schemes for the masses and therefore it has won elections one after the other. People voted the BJP to power in Lok Sabha elections in 2014 and then to Vidhan Sabha in 2017 and recently in Nagar Nigam elections.

“The Samajwadi Party blamed EVMs for their defeat. If that is so, how come the BJP lost Aligarh and Meerut Nagar Nigam elections ? How did Congress win in Punjab and the BJP and its ally was wiped out. These leaders have no answer to these questions. They are only interested in questioning the mandate which is an insult to Parliamentary democracy,” he said.

When asked about the government’s failure to distribute sweaters to school kids, Sharma said that the process has started and te government need to distribute 1.54 crore sweaters among students of which 2.82 lakh students have been provided with sweaters.
