Dubai-Hatta checkpoint completes formalities in 20 seconds

DUBAI: Dubai’s Hatta checkpoint is the world’s first of its kind in terms of luxury and innovative world-class services, which reflects the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

The passengers will take no more than 20-30 seconds to finish the formalities and procedures, said Maj. Gen. Obaid Muhair Bin Sorour, Director General of the Residency and Foreigners Affairs Department in Dubai. He pointed out that around 5,000 passengers pass through the checkpoint of Hatta every day.

The country has made major achievements on the roads to upgrade the border ports to provide the best services for the customers, he added.

He further said, “Constructing and forming the Hatta checkpoint costed around Dhs35million.”

The main building consists of a ground floor and two upper floors with a total area of 3,136 square metres.

Its main hall offer services that are quick, with the help of latest equipped technologies to complete transactions of passengers.

There are restrooms, a cafeteria and meeting rooms. It also has a duty- free market.

Further, it has four buildings for outbound procedures, and five buildings to complete inbound procedures.

This has resulted in a smoother traffic flow, significantly reducing the congestion during the peak periods. While, a special lane has been allocated for trucks, it also has a number of other service buildings and parking lots.
