MMC girls' row hampers classes

Classes and examinations at Mymensingh Medical College (MMC) were hampered yesterday due to row among female students over holding programmes of two batches recently.

A female student of 53rd batch, seeting anonymity, said they held their batch programme at the college auditorium on January 3 while the 54th batch arranged their's on January 6.

On January 6 night, some senior girls of 51st and 52nd batches made bad remarks about the programmes on Facebook which triggered tension among the girls, she alleged.

On Sunday night, some senior girls of 51st and 52nd batches called 50 girls of 53rd batch at the college common room and misbehaved with them. 

They even mentally and physically tortured some of them till early yesterday, alleged the girls.

A senior girl of 51st batch, seeking anonymity, said they sat to settle the matter yesterday but the junior girls did not say sorry to them.

Principal of MMC Prof Dr Anwar Hossain said a few classes were held in the morning but the rest were suspended due to the untoward situation.
