The ITV soap saw innocent character Luke Britton (played by Dean Fagan) shot dead at the hands of Pat (Connor McIntyre) last week, as more and more Weatherfield residents became increasingly suspicious of the evil con-man. 

Now, the storyline may be headed for its explosive conclusion with the culmination of Anna Windass’ (Debbie Rush) upcoming trial.

“Anna is a very strong woman, and she’ll be fighting till the end,” Debbie shared in an interview with TV Times magazine. “There’s unfinished business between her and Phelan and we’ve let it gently boil until this crescendo.”

Anna’s son Gary Windass (Mikey North) continues to wait in the wings for his mother’s rapist to slip up, all the while making moves to turn everyone, including troubled teen Seb Franklin (Harry Visinoni) and Phelan’s wife Eileen Grimshaw (Sue Cleaver), against him. 

According to a soap insider, Pat should be “worried” about Gary and his vendetta, as his desperation to free Anna and expose the Liverpudlian for all of his wrongdoings only increases.

The source teased to the magazine: “When it comes to Phelan, expect the unexpected.

“Anna’s trial and the aftermath will see loyalties tested and lives changed…”

This week will also see Seb tell Gary the truth about Phelan’s involvement in Luke’s murder, potentially setting in motion the despicable character’s downfall on the cobbles.

Will Gary be Pat’s next victim? Or as the plot finally comes to a close, will it be Anna who sacrifices everything to save her family?

A shocking twist could see the character finally get her revenge by framing Pat for her own murder after committing suicide, but how will Eileen factor in when she discovers the true nature of her devoted husband?
