The Left wing’s proposed rally on Tuesday is nothing but a show of a motley gang that is venting its ire against Narendra Modi Government, national joint organising secretary of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) Shriniwas has alleged. Shriniwas has also alleged that the Left groups in Jawaharlal Nehru University is getting support from the “outside” forces in terms of ‘finance’, ‘logistics’ for organising such events aimed at consolidating Dalit vote bank.
“Inhe Bahar ka support milta hai, yahan naye chehre khada karne ke liye, (they get outside support for getting faces here),” said Shriniwas, adding the Left faction of the JNU is trying to create ‘false narrative’ keeping an eye on 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
He alleged that the Left faction of JNU is constantly in agitation mode simply because they are ‘disturbed’ and feel ‘alienated’ by the fact that for the first time a ‘nationalist’ Government is ruling the nation with such a huge majority.
“They work on the ideology of divide and rule followed by the British rulers. Be it the issue of Dadri in UP, Patidar Andolan, Rohith Vemula or the latest issue of Bhima Koregaon, they have always tried to divide society on the lines of caste, religion and other factors,” said the national joint organising secretary.
However, Left faction has denied the allegations and in-turn alleged that the BJP, RSS and ABVP work hand-in-glove against the interest of minorities and Dalits. They alleged that the ABVP is trying to destroy the JNU and bring ‘saffronisation’.
In the “Yuva Hunkar” rally, Vadgam MLA Jignesh Mevani, Assam peasant leader Akhil Gogoi and student leaders from JNU are expected to protest for Dalits and minorities. The rally is apparently organized in the backdrop of Bhima Koregaon incident in Maharashtra which saw a massive violence between Dalit and other communities after Dalit leader Mevani and JNU student Umar Khalid allegedly make ‘provocative’ speeches at an event in Pune on December 31. However, the Delhi Police has not granted permission for the proposed rally at Parliament Street on Tuesday.
