A 23-year-old youth was allegedly beaten to death by a juvenile and his friend over personal enmity and his body was thrown into a drain in South Delhi’s Sangam Vihar area. The deceased has been identified as Deepak, who worked as a sweeper.
Romil Baaniya, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) said, “On January 6, a missing report regarding Deepak, a resident of JJ Colony was registered at the Sangam Vihar police station. As per the written complaint of Deepak’s father, on the night of January 5, Deepak had left home saying that he is going to attend a friend’s birthday party at Neb Sarai. At around 11:30pm, Deepak called home to tell that he has left his friend’s place. However, later his phone was found to be switched off.”
The officer said that during the course of investigation, a 15-year-old juvenile was apprehended. He disclosed that he along with one Deepu thrashed Deepak near the Tigri drainage and pushed him into the drainage. While the juvenile has been apprehended, Deepu (23) has also been arrested.
