Whether or not the Eagles make it to Super Bowl LII, Philly will be represented at the big game this year.
Doylestown native Pink will perform “The Star-Spangled Banner” as part of the Super Bowl’s pregame show on Sunday, Feb. 4 at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, the NFL announced today. Artists such as Lady Gaga, Alicia Keys, and Christina Aguilera have been tapped to perform the National Anthem at the Super Bowl in previous years. Country star Luke Bryan performed the song prior to the game last year.
The announcement naming Pink as the National Anthem performer comes months after the NFL announced pop star Justin Timberlake as the Super Bowl’s halftime show performer. Timberlake infamously ripped off a portion of Janet Jackson’s costume during a halftime performance in 2004, resulting in an incendiary incident now known as Nipplegate. During an appearance on Sunday Night Football in October, Timberlake said the incident “won’t happen this time.”

Pink released her seventh studio album, Beautiful Trauma, in October. Featuring singles “What About Us,” “Revenge,” and “Beautiful Trauma,” the album was 2017’s biggest debut for a female artist, according to Billboard.
The Philly-area native will return to her roots on Friday, April 13 with a performance at the Wells Fargo Center as part of the forthcoming “Beautiful Trauma” tour. The show is currently sold out.
The Eagles, meanwhile, will next face off against the Atlanta Falcons in a divisional playoff game at Lincoln Financial Field on Saturday.
