SANTA CLARA — One person was killed and four others injured in a two-car crash Sunday night, according to police.
At 10:22 p.m., the 17-year-old driver of an Acura Integra lost control of his car and collided with a Toyota Highlander at the intersection of Monroe Street and Bowers Avenue, police said.
The SUV, which was stopped for a light in the southbound direction, was pushed back into the front yard of a home and tipped over on to the passenger side. Police said the Acura was traveling west on Monroe and was trying to turn north onto Bowers.
Four people in the Highlander were transported to a hospital with moderate injuries. The teenage driver of the Acura was also transported to a hospital and later died as a result of injuries, police said.
