The BJB College Alumni Association, BJB Friends, celebrated its diamond jubilee in the college premises here on Sunday. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik graced the occasion as chief guest and inaugurated the programme.
Culture and Tourism Minister and former BJB College student Ashok Chandra Panda brought to the notice of the CM that the college should be elevated to a university and there is a need of a second campus for the college.
Higher Education Minister Ananta Das praised the college and felicitated the toppers of the college and winners of a quiz competition.
BJB Friends president Dr Jagannath Mahapatra informed that a primary healthcare centre would be established for the students of the college.
On the occasion, 25 former Principals of the college were felicitated with citations by the CM. A souvenir was also released and a cultural programme was held by the former students.
Among others, association secretary Shyam Sundar Patnaik, VP Debasis Patnaik, joint secretary Satyabrata Dhupal and advisor Ashok Mohanty were present.
