LCHS wrestling finishes in 10th at Augusta Invitational

AUGUSTA — The Labette County Grizzlies tied for 10th place out of 12 teams in the 50th annual Augusta Invitational wrestling tournament on Saturday.

Seven wrestlers for the Grizzlies placed, highlighted by Rogan Bruce’s second place showing in the 152 pound division.

Bruce pinned his first two opponents before defeating Dalton Johnson of Buhler by decision in the semifinals. Bruce was then beaten by decision in the championship match by Grant Scheer of Rose Hill by a score of 13-3.

Other top placers for Labette County included Colton Chapman, who took fourth at 120 pounds, Evan Flatt (sixth, 106 pounds) and Zach McCarty (sixth, 170 pounds).

Andover Central won the team bracket with team points, followed by Augusta at 188. LCHS tied for 10th, along with Circle, with 53 points.
