Makeup mogul Bobbi Brown sells 'smallest house on beach' for $3.6M (PHOTOS)

Makeup mogul and Montclair resident Bobbi Brown sold her oceanfront Bay Head home for $3.6 million at the beginning of December, according to the property's Trulia listing.

Located on nearly half an acre of pristine beachfront property, Brown and her husband, Steven Plofker, a prominent real estate developer, bought the 3,611-square-foot home (which she claimed was the "smallest house on the beach" in a 2012 interview with Savoir Flair), in December 2004 for $4.18 million, according to property records.

The home's biggest asset is its location.

"When one opens the door, one is instantly at the beach, and can watch the waves roll in," is how the listing describes the home.

The home capitalizes on the views -- the main floor walks out to a wraparound porch and the other floors each have their own balcony.

"My favorite place in the house is the back porch overlooking the ocean," the mother of three told Savoir Flair. "I love to sit out there in the evening with my family - it's incredibly relaxing."

The inside of the home, which has six bedrooms and five bathrooms, has a modern look. The main floor has an open floor plan, hardwood flooring throughout and a custom gourmet kitchen that features two-and-a-half inch stone countertops, a double sink, stainless steel appliances, and a high-end Viking range.

The second-floor includes a master suite with a "signature bathroom and fabulous soaking tub" just steps from the private balcony, plus two additional guest suites, according to the home's listing. The top floors have two additional bedrooms and a balcony.

Property taxes for the home were $35,089 in 2017.

Brown, a Chicago native, rose to prominence in the cosmetics industry after she launched Bobbi Brown Cosmetics in 1991. What started as a makeup line with 10 shades of lipstick turned into a lucrative business that sells makeup products in over 70 countries, according to Forbes.

Her first storefront opened in Montclair in 2007.

Brown, who has also authored eight books and was inducted into the New Jersey Hall of Fame in 2013, stepped down from her company in December 2016.

Brown has since launched Beauty Evolution, a health and wellness brand, according to CNN Money
