New Delhi, Jan 8 (KNN) Batting for steps to encourage entrepreneurship among women, Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal said that there is a need to change the mind set and work towards empowering women.

The Minister made these remarks during a press interaction at the India Industrial Fair in Jaipur.

Informing of the number, the Minister said that only 14 per cent of the total women in the country is engaged in business, there is a need to work towards strengthening the percentage.

Meghwal further said that despite fair share of skilled workforce among women, they are neglected, this needs to change.

The Mudra scheme implemented by the government is proving to be beneficial for encouraging women to take up entrepreneurship and start their own micro, small and medium enterprises, the Minister said.

The data from MSME Ministry says that over 195 proprietary MSMEs per 1000 MSMEs are owned by women in the entire country.

The data further informed that despite the country witnessing a rise in women participation but inter-state growth has been unbalanced. Manipur, Mizoram, Telengana being the states with maximum women based MSMEs among per 1000 MSMES ranging to 481, 393 and 373 respectively. (KNN/DA)
