You won't believe what the kid from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory looks like now

CHARLIE and the Chocolate Factory is one of the nation's most-loved films.

And Freddie Highmore is is at the centre of that, playing the iconic role of Charlie Bucket in the 2005 version of alongside Johnny Depp's Willy Wonka.

However, fans couldn't believe how much he'd changed from his 13-year-old self when he hit the red carpet at the on Sunday night.

Highmore, now 25, rocked a similar hairstyle to his Charlie days.

However, he was every bit the man as he rocked a dashing tuxedo.

The actor, who has also starred in Finding Neverland and TV show Bates Motel, looked a million dollars as he graced the red carpet.

Fans took to Twitter while watching the event to voice their shock at the star's transformation.

One said: "I still remember Freddie Highmore as the kid from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Spiderwcik, I refuse to believe he's grown."

Freddie was nominated as Best Actor in a Television Series Drama for his role in US series The Good Doctor.

This was his first ever nod at the Golden Globes, although he ended up missing out to This Is Us star Sterling K Brown.
