Dutch telecom regulator chief to step down in May

The head of Dutch telecom regulator ACM, Chris Fonteijn announced he will step down from 01 May. At the regulator's new year's reception, he said he would be seeking a new challenge outside the ACM. The process to name a successor will start shortly. 

Fonteijn was a lawyer in the energy sector before joining the ACM's predecessor Opta as chairman in 2005. In 2011 he became head of the competition regulator NMa, and then led the merger of the NMa, Opta and the Consumer Authority to form the ACM. Fonteijn is also currently vice-chairman of the International Competition Network (ICN), a global association of competition regulators.
