BARISAL, Dec 7: Professor Anwar Hossain of Dhaka University said democracy without socialism is meaningless.
He was speaking as chief guest at a regional workers' meeting of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (Inu), district unit, at Barisal Teachers' Association hallroom in the city on Friday.
District Unit President of JSD Freedom Fighter Shahjahan Hawlader presided over the meeting.
It was addressed, among others, by Deputy Office Secretary of JSD Central Committee Sazzad Hossain, City Unit President Mazibul Haque, District Unit General Secretary Advocate AH Mahbub, ZK Mukul, Enayet Hossain Chhana, Partho Mandal and Anisur Rahaman.
Professor Anwar Hossain said, "We are committed to protect the spirit of the Liberation War from the hands of anti-liberation forces."
