Brown honored with CDC's Tipple award

Businessman Scott J. Brown has been named the 2017 recipient of the Willard R. Tipple Memorial Award bestowed by the Guernsey County Community Development Corporation.

Brown operates his business, Local Net Plus, a technology company specializing in video security, computer sales and service as well as general technology consulting. He also serves as the chairman of the Guernsey County Friends of the NRA.

During the past two years, Brown has been dedicated in his support of the CDC and has been instrumental in the growth of the Guernsey County Sportsman’s Bash, said Ron Gombeda, CDC executive director.

"He frequently sponsors many of our events, such as the Great Guernsey Trail Banquet and the Great Guernsey Trail signage revitalization project," Gombeda said. "[And he] is an annual donor to our military veterans transportation service.

"The CDC is extremely grateful for all that Scott does for our organization and we are thrilled to honor him with this year’s award."

The Willard R. Tipple Memorial Award is present to those individuals who have demonstrated a steadfast dedication to the CDC and its core values, Gombeda said.

The late Mr. Tipple, who served for many years as a council member for the Village of Byesville, was a founding member and past president of the CDC’s board of directors.

"Individuals nominated for this award have shown a desire to improve the quality of life for Guernsey County residents while volunteering and or donating to the CDC," Gombeda said.
