SALEM - A local man will serve up to five years in prison after pleading guilty to an October convenience store armed robbery, police said.
Mohamed Nweiran, 37, pleaded guilty to one count of robbery and will serve two-and-a-half to 5 years in the state prison in Concord.
Nweiran robbed the 7-11 store at 108 Cluff Crossing Road early Oct. 17, taking cash and lottery scratch tickets, according to court records.
A police K9 led officers to the Brook Village West apartment complex, where store staff said a recently fired employee - Nweiran - lived.
Police said while questioning Nweiran, they found shoes that matched those the robber was wearing, as well as a long, black pipe.
Once released, Nweiran will be on probation. He is banned from the store and not allowed to have any contact with the clerk who was working at the time of the robbery.
