DUBAI: An addict who refused to offer his urine sample for tests rammed his car into a police vehicle during an escape bid, the Criminal Court heard on Jan.7.

The Arab motorist, 44, and his countryman, 20, who was with him in the car, were charged with waging an assault on two lieutenants from the Dubai Police’s Antinarcotics Department on Oct.10.2017.

The motorist was found in possession of three Pregabalin capsules. His countryman had consumed morphine, 6-Monoacetylmorphine and cocaine. The motorist confessed, while his countryman denied. Hearing continues on Jan.21.

A lieutenant explained that they intercepted the defendants in Al Quoz. However, the motorist refused to pull over and rammed his Mercedes into the police’s civilian patrol vehicle.

He refused to open the doors. Police had no option but to smash the car’s window and arrest him along with his countryman. The motorist refused to have his sample examined for drugs.
