School buses across Windsor-Essex have been cancelled for all of Monday, according to the Greater Essex County District School Board and the Windsor Essex Catholic District School Board.
Although student transportation has been cancelled, the schools remain open and classes are in session.
Snowy road conditions have been cited as the reason for the bus cancellations. Meteorologists forecasted 10 centimetres of snow to fall across the Great Lakes overnight, and Environment Canada issued a special weather statement for Southern Ontario advising of snow-covered roads.
“Untreated roads are expected to be slippery during the morning commute,” Environment Canada stated.
Environment Canada predicts the snow will taper off throughout the day across Southern Ontario from west to east.
