Where is Silent Witness 2018 set?

Following last season’s dramatic finale which saw Dr Nikki almost killed in Mexico, season 21 of the BBC show returns to the familiar surroundings of London where the forensic detective is still reeling from her horrific experience of almost being buried alive. 

On leave from work, Dr Nikki tries to take time to recover when her friend Sally Vaughan, played by Emma Fielding goes missing. She is recruited by police to keep tabs on the prime suspect David Cannon (Julian Rhind-Tutt) and returns to her team at the Lyell Centre. 

The backdrop of season 21 is London at Christmastime where pathologist Nikki, along with the rest of the Lyell crew get to grips with five grisly cases including finding a dead body in a reservoir and a shooting spree in the city.

Where was Silent Witness filmed?

Having been on air since 1996, Silent Witness moved from Cambridge to London in 1999 and has thrived in the capital. 

Filming traditionally features a wide range of London boroughs, with locations including Brent, Camden, The City, Ealing, Hackney, Haringey, Hounslow, Islington, Kensington and Chelsea, Lambeth, Richmond, Southwark and Westminster.

The morgue at the Lyell Centre will also feature prominently as Dr Nikki and her team Jack Hodgson (David Caves), Dr Thomas Chamberlain (Richard Lintern) and Clarissa Mullery (Liz Carr) get to work. 

When does Silent Witness air and how many episodes will there be?

Silent Witness makes its highly anticipated return tonight (Monday, January 8) on BBC One at 9pm.

The following episode will air on Tuesday night (January 9) at 9pm again on BBC One.

Series 21 will take the format of a 10-part drama, broken into five two-part films and will run for the next five weeks.
