A gang rape victim in Thakurgaon Sadar upazila has alleged that the perpetrators are threatening her to withdraw the rape case.
The victim, Rasheda, 40, wife of Hamidur Rahman of Molankhuri village in Sadar upazila, made the allegation in a press conference at the office of Thakurgaon Online Journalists Association in the town yesterday afternoon.
A group of people including Jamal Uddin, 45, Rathindranath Roy, 37, Manik, 32, Liyakat Ali, 38, Hamidur, 30, Abdul Gafur, 35, and Abdur Rashid, 39, entered her room after breaking open the window on the night of December 29 when she was alone at the house, Rasheda said in her case.
Threatening her with a knife, they brought the woman forcibly to a bamboo cluster and gang-raped her. After stabbing her there, they tied up her to a bamboo and fled the scene.
The next morning, local people rescued her and brought her to Thakurgaon Sadar Hospital for treatment.
On December 31, she filed a case with Thakurgaon Police Station against the seven people and police arrested Rathindranath Roy and Abdul Gafur the same day.
The other accused, who are still at large, are threatening her of dire consequences if she does not withdrew the case, Rasheda said.
