Cheboygan bowling teams earn wins over Boyne City, move into first place

GAYLORD — The Cheboygan varsity bowling teams were able to move into first place in the Northern Michigan Bowling Conference after each claimed a victory over Boyne City on Saturday.

For the Cheboygan boys, who earned a 27-3 win over the Ramblers, they were led by Dawson Campbell (226, 144), Brady Rocco (201, 157), Bailey Wheelock (198, 192), Logan St. Clair (183, 169) and Zach Gildner (170, 139).

With the win, Cheboygan (4-1) is now in a three-way tie for first place with Gaylord and Petoskey.

Leading the Cheboygan Orange team against Gaylord were Paige Lacombe (160, 137), Savannah Pasney (148, 99), Lexie Boardman (133, 127), Lizzy Hansen (124, 114) and Claire Maltby (97, 97).

Maltby (158, 132), Savannah Pasney (130, 83), Hansen (128, 125), Boardman (126, 120) and Lacombe (121, 120) each helped out in Cheboygan Orange's win over Boyne City.

The Cheboygan Black JV team picked up a win over Boyne City (23-7) and lost a match to Gaylord (22-8).

For Cheboygan Black, Caleb Wiles (171, 128), Tyler McKervey (148, 130), Tony Roznowski (134, 126), Trent Bassette (102, 98) and Denny Miller (93, 66) each contributed in the win over Boyne City.

McKervey (209, 157), Miller (136, 124), Wiles (135, 79), Roznowski (128, 118) and Bassette (112, 107) each bowled for Cheboygan against Gaylord.

The Cheboygan White JV team suffered a pair of losses to Rogers City (29-1) and Petoskey (26-4).

Against Rogers City, Cheboygan White were led by Aubreanna Lail (134, 63), Taylor Herbert (109, 103), Morgan Jones (123, 107), Madelyn Maltby (105, 87) and Natalie Marsh (98, 58).

Jones (135, 126), Maltby (111, 103), Lail (103, 84), Marsh (94, 87) and Herbert (91, 70) each rolled for Cheboygan White in the matchup against Petoskey.

The Cheboygan Purple JV team suffered a pair of losses to Petoskey (19-11) and Rogers City (28-2).

Against Petoskey, Cheboygan Purple were led by Holly Griffis (145, 129), Cole Marsh (133, 101), Evan Thomas (108, 92), Emma Walt (99, 95) and Dameon Cronk (86, 82).

Walt (145, 90), Marsh (133, 115), Thomas (121, 94), Cronk (108, 103) and Griffis (81, 77) rounded out Cheboygan Purple in the match against Rogers City.

The Cheboygan varsity girls bowling team will compete in St. Ignace on Saturday, Jan. 12.
