Brighton beat Crystal Palace in the FA Cup third-round tie at the Amex Stadium to progress to the fourth round, where they will play Middlesbrough.

Glenn Murray's late bundled winner proved the difference on a night when VAR made its debut and was called upon for the crucial goal, to settle a debate over whether Murray handled the ball.

Our attention turns to the Carabao Cup tomorrow night, as Manchester City host Bristol City in the first leg of their semi-final. Be sure to join us for that one.

Goodnight!
There were suspicions of handball surrounding Glenn Murray's winning goal but the striker has just come out and assured us that the decisive touch came off his knee - not his hand.

"It's a game we wanted to win. I knew as soon as it went in that it touched my hip, not my arm," he told BT Sport.

It's not quite clear why referee Andre Marriner didn't use VAR to check but, despite not doing that, he appeared to get the decision right.

GOAL! Brighton 2-1 Crystal Palace (Murray)

88' - And there's your answer! Uwe Hunemeier heads the ball across goal from a free-kick and Glenn Murray is on hand at the far post to slot home!
87' - Just a few minutes to go until full-time here. Are we going to a replay in this one or will we see a late winner from either side?

82' - Sam Baldock has a superb chance to give Brighton the lead as he gallops onto Biram Kayal's through pass but, with just Wayne Hennessey to beat, the striker blazes his left-footed shot over the crossbar.

That's a really poor miss.
81' - Glenn Murray replaces Tomer Hemed for Brighton.
79' - Davy Propper's headed knockdown is struck on the spin by Tomer Hemed but the shot is at a good height for Wayne Hennessey and the Palace goalkeeper makes a routine save.
Bakary Sako celebrates after scoring Palace's equaliser

76' - Patrick van Aanholt finds himself in a position to give Palace the lead but he can't quite sort his feet out after James McArthur's cross and Tim Krul sprints off his line to collect the ball.
73' - Connor Goldson makes a big error to lose possession to Bakary Sako in the Brighton half but the Palace striker can't capitalise as he puts his shot into the side-netting after a driving run.

Seconds later Brighton have a couple of great chances to go in front but Sam Baldock's curled effort hits the post before Biram Kayal blazes a shot over the crossbar from just 12 yards out and under no pressure.

This otherwise-drab game has really livened up in the last five minutes!

GOAL! Brighton 1-1 Crystal Palace (Sako)

69' - Bakary Sako wins an aerial battle with Davy Propper around 25 yards from goal before bringing the ball under control and drilling a superb shot in off the far post.

That's a wonderful goal by Palace's best player so far tonight.
Yohan Cabaye dribbles with the ball for Palace

66' - Tomer Hemed almost doubles Brighton's lead from 12 yards but his left-footed effort deflects behind for a corner, which comes to nothing for the hosts.
65' - Considering this game is supposed to be a derby of sorts, the attendance is massively disappointing.

There are just 14,507 people in the 30,750-capacity Amex Stadium tonight.

In fairness to the Palace fans, the away end is fairly full.
