The Stem Cell Biology department is seeking a talented, motivated and innovative
to join our Stem Cell Research team at Evotec’s headquarters in Hamburg, Germany. The successful candidate will use cutting-edge technologies to develop novel, industry scale hiPSC-based differentiation platforms in a fully funded research project. You will benefit from a state-of-the-art research environment and a dynamic, multinational, multidisciplinary team. You will actively lead research projects, ultimately contributing to collaborative drug discovery campaigns using patient-derived pluripotent stem cells, within EVOTEC in the area of lysosomal storage diseases and neurodevelopmental disorders.
Your Key Responsibilities
• Lead a team of stem cell scientists employing iPSCs for disease modeling and drug discovery
• Develop new differentiation protocols and define SOPs
• Lead assay development and screening campaigns for projects in CNS biology
• Maintain a cutting-edge awareness of technical developments and scientific knowledge to improve project performance
• Work collaboratively with project teams and customers to meet defined goals in time
• Deliver documents, technical reports and presentations accurately and timely
• Represent Evotec’s stem cell capabilities internally and externally
Your Ideal Qualification
• The successful candidate should hold a PhD in Biology or other relevant field and have at least 2 years postdoctoral experience
• Expert knowledge in lysosomal storage diseases and neurodevelopmental disorders
• Several years of hands-on experience and expert knowledge in human neuronal and glial iPSC differentiation and disease modeling
• Experience in iPSC reprogramming, gene editing or phenotypic screening is a strong plus
• Experience in skeletal muscle differentiation is a plus
• Working experience in drug discovery from pharmaceutical or biotech industry is a plus
• High level of motivation, initiative, flexibility and ability to work well in a cross-functional team
• Excellent communication & people skills and experience in managing and mentoring junior scientists
