The weather should be quiet in KELOLAND tonight. We’re just expecting some passing clouds as temperatures cool to the 20s for most of the area. Another round of fog is possible for those in eastern KELOLAND tomorrow morning so be careful of reduced visibility and slick spots.

We’ll keep seeing passing clouds and warm weather for Tuesday. Highs will bounce back into the 30s to low 40s for most of KELOLAND with 50s found again near the Black Hills and in Rapid City.

The work week will continue to be pleasant through Wednesday. A trough is digging into the desert southwest. This has put the plains in good position to pick up some very warm weather until the pattern changes, which looks to change Wednesday.

Wednesday afternoon is when we’ll have the first round of cold air settle back into the Midwest with another round expected Friday. So forecasted temperatures are much colder for the 2nd half of the forecast. Highs will go from the 30s to low 40s on Wednesday with falling temperatures on Thursday with single digits highs for much of eastern KELOLAND Friday. Central and western SD will be warmer though with teens and 20s.
The weekend will be coldest in the east with highs in the single digits above and below zero while warmer teens and 20s will be found in the west.

We are expecting a couple rounds of snow to accompany the cold air. The first round will begin late Wednesday in western SD, move east through the nighttime hours and last through Thursday afternoon for those in eastern KELOLAND. We are expecting accumulating snowfall along with gusty winds which would cause reduced visibility. Then on Friday, we’ll see another quick hit of snow before a quiet weekend. It’s still too early to get into the details of snowfall amounts but weather forecast models have been consistent with placing a band of four to eight inches of snow in the Midwest so the next step will be trying to figure out if that band will fall in KELOLAND.
