At TU Dresden, Faculty of Environmental Sciences, Department of Hydrosciences, Institute of Waste Management and Circular Economy, Chair of Waste Management and Circular Economy is seeking to appoint a position as
Research Associate
(Subject to personal qualification employees are remunerated according to salary group E 13 TV-L)
with 50% of the fulltime weekly hours. The position is available as soon as possible and ending by 31.12.2020. The period of employment is governed § 2 Fixed Term Research Contracts Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz – WissZeitVG). The position offers the chance to obtain further academic qualification (e.g. PhD/ habilitation thesis).
Tasks: The area of responsibility includes the implementation of a third-party project in the field of microbiology in biogas technology. In addition to the waste management focus, the following activities will be carried out to develop a complex biogas module: comprehensive literature research on key microbiological parameters and signal molecules, anaerobic cultivation, construction of a fixed bed fermenter. Long-term experiments for the development of a complex biogas module as a combination of: biorefinery, biogas, multi-stage fermentation processes.
Requirements: A university degree, if applicable doctoral degree, in the field of process engineering / environmental engineering / biotechnology / technical microbiology or similar; teamwork; a high degree of independence and project organization; process engineering and / or microbiological knowledge of anaerobic processes; the interest in this interdisciplinary work or the ability to work into new, exciting topics; knowledge of the English language and / or Spanish in spoken. First knowledge in the field of microbial cultivation is welcome.
The project to be worked on enables research in an interdisciplinary field. The job offers the opportunity to acquire social and professional experience in the field of waste management as well as to get work experience in consulting and coordination.
