Heavy rain, flooding affecting JPS power supply in St Ann, St Mary, Portland

The Jamaica Public Service Company is reporting that continued heavy rains and flooding over the weekend has resulted in several customers in northern and eastern Jamaica being out of power.

In St Mary the affected areas include:

Enfield District
Mount Vernon
Castleton
Claremount Pen
Three Hills
Marlborough
Labyrinth
Retire Roadside
Chocolate Walk

St Ann
Market Street and areas leading off
(Land slippages have left Market Street inaccessible, preventing equipment repairs in the area.)

Portland
Boston District
Windsor Forrest
Barracks District

The JPS says its teams are making every effort to restore power supply in the affected areas, but issues of access to areas, and continued rainfall have also impacted the rate at which restoration can take place.
