Labour MP REVEALS his number one priority is to THWART Brexit 'over and over AGAIN'

LABOUR Remainer Darren Jones admitted his “number one priority” is to try to convince the Government to give Britons a second Brexit referendum.

Darren Jones told BBC Westminster Hour that he will put his case for a second referendum before “over and over again”.

The Labour MP for Bristol North West said: “2018 is the year that the details around the decision on Brexit will be decided. 2019 is too late.

“I’m very clear that my national number one priority is to make the case over and over again to the Government, to Parliament, to my constituents and the British people, that we should have the right to change our mind as the facts become clear about this Tory-led Brexit disaster.”

Labour Remainer admits he will try to stop Brexit 'over and over again'

He added: “Quite frankly we’ve been going through months and months of ministry obstinacy, absolutely nothing, giving with no policies whatsoever to deliver to my constituents and democracy did not stop in 2016.

“If this continues to be the stand for our country, we have the right and we should be given the right to change our mind.”

Former Prime Minister Tony Blair also has repeatedly called for a second referendum on Brexit.

In a recent interview with BBC Radio 4, the former Labour leader said, despite accepting the result of the June 2016 Referendum, when people voted they could not anticipate the full implications of their vote.

Mr Blair said: "Once the debate is put before the people, they are entitled to think again. Why shouldn't we be entitled?

"As the debate proceeds, when we see what the alternative is, we are entitled to say we don't believe that is what is best for our country."

After the interview, former UKIP leader Nigel Farage attacked Mr Blair’s proposal of a second referendum in a tweet.

He wrote: "Wrong on the ERM. Wrong on the Euro. Wrong on Brexit!"

The official Leave EU Twitter account hit out at Mr Blair too, writing: “Tony Blair piping up again trying to stop us from leaving a political institution he himself campaigned against and admitted in 1983 had ‘drained our natural resources and destroyed jobs’.”
