Films fans are furious that Get Out has failed to win a Golden Globe.
Jordan Peele's horror - confusingly nominated in the Comedy or Musical category - lost out to Greta Gerwig's directorial debut Lady Bird while British actor Daniel Kaluuya was beaten to the Best Actor trophy by James Franco who scooped the award for his performance as Tommy Wiseau in The Disaster Artist.
Get Out fans expressed their frustrations on social media with many likening the turn of events to the terrifying 'sunken place' depicted in the film which became one of the most critically-acclaimed films of 2016.
Franco was great in The Disaster Artist but...NO, NO, NO, NO...THAT WAS DANIEL KALUUYA’s globe. #GoldenGlobes pic.twitter.com/dQ4s4ei1BK

Bad: No awards for Get Out #GoldenGlobes
Get Out is one of the most sophisticated films made in a while, as terrifying as Moonlight is poignant. The loss is that of the #GoldenGlobes.

This year's ceremony was hosted by Seth Meyers whose opening monologue directly addressed the sexual harassment scandal to have rocked Hollywood in recent months, dishing out a shocking joke about Harvey Weinstein which drew gasps from the audience.
The evening's biggest winners were TV shows Big Little Lies and Martin McDonagh drama Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri which scooped four awards each. You can find a full list of all the Golden Globes 2018 winners here.
Many are praising Natalie Portman for "throwing shade" at the lack of female representation in the Best Director category she was presenting immediately following an empowering speech from Oprah Winfrey who received the Cecil B. DeMille award - the first black female recipient in the history of the ceremony.
Best Actor winner Franco brought Wiseau onto the stage during his acceptance speech and immediately tried to steal the microphone.
