Liquidation of inventory will continue until final day on April 28, Walz says

    A downtown Crookston business, This is Sew Broadway, will soon be closing its doors after seven years. Owners, Jenn Walz and her father, Robin Steinbrink, announced the news on social media Sunday afternoon.

    “It is with heavy hearts and a lot of soul searching that we have decided to move in a different direction, and will be closing our doors as of April 28, 2018,” the owners stated in a release.

    Walz told the Times that they have no other plans for the building and they are not looking to sell at this time.

    “We’ve kind of been thinking about it (closing) for a while and we will be selling everything down to the bare walls,” Walz explained. “We will continue to do repairs on machines and I’ll continue to offer long-arm quilting services, but we aren’t sure if it will be at this location.”

    Robin and the late Cheryl Steinbrink, opened This is Sew Broadway in 2010 and Walz also moved her business, The Krazy Kiln, into that location. The former Great Plains Natural Gas historical building was soon filled with quilting/sewing supplies and pottery after months of sweat equity and restoration. Now, the plan is to concentrate on liquidating products and clearing out the space.

    Walz says they will be running weekly, in-store specials beginning January 8, and any new or previously-ordered product will be arriving through March. Their February Retreat will go on as scheduled February 9-11, but they will no longer be holding their Stash Busters class or Quilt Club.

    “We would like to thank all of our customers for your support and business in the past seven years,” said Walz and Steinbrink.
