Letter writer says Dublin water slide accident should not have been included in 2017 top ten list.

I completed the Dec. 31 article, “Not for the faint of heart 2017: A year of tragedy, heartbreak and resistance,” and am shocked that number 10 was the Dublin water slide incident where a boy was scraped up — not taken away by an ambulance – and has nightmares of the incident. Now the family is suing Dublin for $2.5 million.

Shame on the paper for including this in the top 10. (The family is not to blame for the inclusion. I’m sure it was horrific to watch and, if they win the lawsuit, I’m sure $2.5 million of nightmare therapy should do the trick.) But for it to be included in the year end top 10 was irresponsible reporting. Think of the people who lost loved ones in the Wine Country fire, the family of Sierra LaMar, and the father of Kate Steinle and how she died in his arms. Think about their nightmares.
