Under Khel Mahakumbh -2017 many events in Under 14 girls’ category were organised at Maharana Pratap Sports College and Mini Stadium Nanoorkheda on Sunday.
In the Kabaddi event teams of Udham Singh Nagar, Tehri , Nainital and Dehradun won their respective matches to reach to semi-final stage. In Kho Kho teams of Nainital, Dehradun, Champawat and Pauri won their quarter final matches.
In Football, the match between the teams of Tehri and Haridwar extended to penalty shootout in which Tehri won by 4-3. In another match Uttarkashi defeated Bageshwar 1-0. In first semi-final, the girls of Nainital defeated Tehri by 2-0 while in second semi final Dehradun defeated Uttarkashi by 1-0.
In Volley ball, Dehradun defeated Chamoli, the score line at the end read 2-1. In quarter final match Nainital defeated Rudraprayag by 2-0.
The first semi final of badminton was played between girls of Dehradun and Haridwar in which Dehradun won by 2-0 while in other semi final Udham Singh Nagar prevailed over Nainital.
In the semi final matches of Table Tennis, Dehradun defeated Nainital while Pauri prevailed over Tehri.
In 600 meter race, Utkrastha Pandey of Nainital secured first position. The long jump event was won by Kiran Pandey while in Shot put Priya Bisht of Pauri secured first position. The 100 meter sprint was won by Tanu of Udham Singh Nagar.
In 23 kg weight category of boxing, Rinki Negi of Dehradun secured first place while Deepti Bisht got first position in 32 kg category. The 44 kg boxing event was won by Sapna Kalakoti of Bageshwar while Meena Kumari of Champawat won 46 kg category.
The dir sports Prashant Kumar Arya and others officers and employees of education, sports and youth welfare departments were present on the occasion. This kind of activities are really instrumental in honing young sporting talent of state and this must continue.
