GAME DAY: Staff picks, Alabama vs. Georgia

Joey Chandler

Alabama 24, Georgia 17

In this battle of the SEC, the West is ultimately crowned national champion and Nick Saban improves to 12-0 against his former assistants. Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs put up a good fight, but it’s not enough to stop the Crimson Tide from rolling.

Drew Hill

Alabama 28, Georgia 14

While Georgia's skill players are a lot to handle, I think Alabama's healthier defense will be enough for the Crimson Tide to take home the championship. Expect another inspired performance against some of the nation's top running backs, similar to Alabama's dismantling Leonard Fournette and Derrius Guice last season.

Cecil Hurt

Alabama 21, Georgia 13

The Bulldogs have made a fast leap from perennial also-ran to championship contender but will get swatted on the nose one more time by Nick Saban and the rolled-up newspaper known as the Alabama defense.

Ben Jones

Alabama 20, Georgia 17

Don't look for anything pretty in this national championship game. This will be a bulldozing game with two elite run games and imposing defenses. The line of scrimmage will decide this game. Clemson couldn't stop Alabama there on either side of the ball. Georgia will give way, too.

Michael Southern

Alabama 23, Georgia 20

A healthier and motivated Alabama suffocated Clemson in the semifinals, now the Crimson Tide prepares for a more conventional opponent. Georgia has the Alabama DNA in its foundation, but is probably a year ahead of schedule. Jalen Hurts will need to create a few more plays on offense to lead UA to its 17th national championship.

Edwin Stanton

Alabama 28, Georgia 17

Alabama started the season in Atlanta against Florida State and will end it in Atlanta against Georgia. Alabama's in a place where it feels comfortable in a position where it feels comfortable - playing for a national title.

Aaron Suttles

Alabama 27, Georgia 17

What Georgia does well, Alabama is suited to defend. That is run the ball. Alabama fields the nation's top rushing defense. If UA stops the run, it should win.

Terrin Waack

Alabama 24, Georgia 17

Nick Saban has never lost to a former assistant coach. That’s not going to change now, especially since the Crimson Tide has made it to the final stage after being doubted. And another unrelated thing: Let’s see a deep shot actually completed to Calvin Ridley this time.

Molly Walsh

Alabama 38, Georgia 7

Alabama’s defense and newly renovated playbook will lead to victory over the Bulldogs, who may not be able to run the ball as well as they have in past games.
