Neighboring Wyoming Communities Rally Around North Spring Family

HANOVER, WV (WVNS) -- On midnight heading into New Year's Eve 2017, the North Spring community lost 13 year-old Hunter Paynter, an eighth grader at Huff's Consolidated School, to a house fire. While the heartbreak continues into the new year, the love from the surrounding community has already been pouring in, especially from Coal Mountain resident Krista Warrix.

"When you hear such a loss, especially a child, my first thought was to get the community together."

Warrix is the niece-in-law of Ronnie Warrix Junior, who was fatally hit while walking on U.S. 52 in Ikes Fork last November. From firsthand experience, she knows how loving and caring her fellow neighbors can truly be.

"There were so many people that were there for us and stepped in, brought food, donations, and just everything possible," Warrix said. "That is something our community does anyway, is get together."

With the Brenton Volunteer Fire Department and local First Community Bank locations, the collective of communities is asking for many donations as they can to help the Paynter's back on their feet.  While the investigation with the State Fire Marshall is ongoing, one answer is for certain, their extended brothers and sisters are right down the street.

"A lot of other people goes 'How can we help?' 'What can we do,'" Warrix said. "It just shows you the true love that the community has for each other. Through the good and the bad, we try to stick together."
