HFPA President Meher Tatna Explains Why She Didn't Wear Black at Golden Globes 2018

President of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, Meher Tatna, explained why she did not wear black to the 2018 Golden Globes.

“My mom and I planned this together a couple of months ago, it is a cultural thing,” the journalist told ET. “When you have a celebration, you don’t wear black. So she would be appalled if I were to [have] worn black. And so this is, for my mom.”

“She is watching in Mumbai. Well, maybe not the live show, but she will watch. I love you, Mom,” she said. “I do have my Time’s Up button, so [I'm] standing in solidarity with all these other women. he HFPA is 60 percent women, we’ll have our stories. We are also journalists, so anybody who expresses themselves, especially on this topic, we are in solidarity with.”

Everyone is causing an uproar about a few women who chose not to wear black, but no one is angry Lena Dunham was there?

So it’s more important to “celebrate” than stand for the cause. And if her mom didn’t get that, then her mom is dumb

That anyone feels obligated to *explain* themselves why they chose not to wear black bothers me. No one should do things because it’s expected, or an obligation, or just cause everyone else is doing it, regardless of the cause. I hate wearing black but I’ll do it cause it’s expected and half the celebrities are doing it. Sounds like peer pressure and bullying to me.

Your comment is dumb. She is not obligated to wear black.
