COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Gunter native Tyler Buysse was one of 17 players named the 2018 U.S. Men’s National Wheelchair Basketball Team over the weekend, following a four-day selection camp at the Olympic Training Center.
Buysse, a freshman at the University of Missouri, was one of three college players selected and will return in May to compete for one of the 12 spots on this year’s World Championship roster.
The IWBF World Championships are set for Hamburg, Germany from August 16-26.
He played for the Dallas Junior Wheelchair Mavericks team before heading off to college this past fall.
Buysse was a U.S. Paralympics Track and Field High School All-American after finishing his career with repeat state championships in the 100 and 400 meter wheelchair races in May.
